Movement Studies Academy

What You Can Expect

Our commitment to students, educators, and collaborators.

Movement Studies Academy exists to cultivate meaningful learning through movement, embodied inquiry, and artistic practice. These commitments describe how we intend to do that work.

Educational purpose

Education, not prescription.

Education, not treatment

MSA offers education, not medical, psychological, or therapeutic treatment. We support curiosity and learning while respecting your autonomy in health decisions.

No quick promises

We do not promise cures or instant transformation. Learning is a lifelong practice built through integrity, craft, reflection, and time.

Participation

Your agency remains yours.

Informed choice

We communicate what an activity involves so you can decide whether and how to participate.

Consent and boundaries

You may adapt, pause, observe, decline touch, or step out without pressure or judgment.

Curiosity before certainty

Questions and not-knowing are welcome. We value observation over assumptions and invite dialogue rather than compliance.

Knowledge & technology

Attribution, innovation, and human responsibility.

Respect for lineage

We acknowledge the teachers, sources, traditions, and cultural contexts that shape our work while supporting fresh research and exchange.

Human-centered technology

Digital and AI tools may support learning or access, but educational judgment, teaching, feedback, and care remain human responsibilities.

Community

Privacy, respect, and accountable dialogue.

Privacy and recording

Personal information is handled responsibly. Recording or sharing identifiable material requires clear communication and appropriate consent.

A community of respect

Discrimination, harassment, and degrading behavior are incompatible with our learning culture.

Concerns are heard

We aim to receive concerns respectfully, distinguish disagreement from harm, explain decisions clearly, and follow up with proportionate care and accountability.

Communication & access

Clarity is part of care.

We aim to describe formats, costs, access conditions, schedules, cancellation terms, and expectations in plain language. When access needs or uncertainties arise, we invite early conversation so that realistic options can be considered.

These commitments are a public standard for our work. They will be reviewed as MSA learns from participants, faculty, and collaborators.
