The Faculty Charter is not a teaching script and does not ask educators to become interchangeable. It names the commitments that allow diverse practices to coexist with clarity and integrity.
Faculty are custodians of a shared educational culture. Their responsibility includes the quality of their own teaching and the conditions they help create across the Academy.

What faculty agree to carry together.
Respect and generosity
Meet students, colleagues, and differing practices with dignity, curiosity, and care rather than competition or dismissal.
Attribution and lineage
Name influential teachers, sources, traditions, and collaborators accurately, and remain open to correcting omissions.
Clarity of scope
Describe what an offering can and cannot provide, and do not present educational work as medical or therapeutic treatment.
Consent and autonomy
Support informed choice, clear boundaries, adaptable participation, and a student's capacity to direct their own learning.
Reflection and learning
Continue studying, welcome meaningful feedback, and examine how power, context, and personal assumptions affect teaching.
Responsible dialogue
Make room for disagreement while responding to concerns or harm with fairness, proportion, accountability, and follow-through.
Educator voice
Coherence should not erase difference.
MSA values the lived practice and distinct perspective of each educator. Faculty are encouraged to question, contribute to curriculum dialogue, and help the Academy notice where its own standards require revision.
As the faculty develops, peer observation, co-teaching, reflective conversation, and clear feedback channels can support both educational quality and educator well-being.
Professional relationship
Clear agreements support fair collaboration.
Faculty and guest educators work as independent professionals unless explicitly agreed otherwise. Each collaboration is defined through a project-specific agreement covering scope, preparation, compensation, attribution, intellectual property, communication, and cancellation terms.
The Charter complements these agreements by naming the culture in which the work takes place. It does not replace a contract or professional responsibility.
